Grizzly Radio was created by Mark "Griz" Grzegorczyk in the fall of 2019. A fan of both polkas and old country himself, he wanted a station that people like him could listen to and enjoy 24/7, commercial free.
One thing that was realized thanks to our friend Dave Carr, a long time radio guru, is how many people who listen to polkas also like classic country music. Many polkas are converted from country music to polka.
With the help of broadcasting expert Ryan Kingham, our internet radio station was "on the air" at the end of November 2019. Finishing touches were finished, more music was added, and Grizzly Radio was introduced to the public in February 2020. When the station started, it was only one station with all country music during the week, and polka music on Sundays. In April of 2020, the station divided into two separate stations; one for polka and one for country.
Music contributors to the station include: Tom Wojciechowski, Jeff Otto, Kevin Paner, Jake Fortin, Alden Blume, Douglas Lull, and The Electric Kitsch record store.
The Electric Kitsch in Bay City provided our country station with thousands of vinyl records to our collection for Friday night Country Requests. Yes, we play real records live over the air during request shows. Mark "Griz" says they're "the BEST record store in the area!".
